Is your shop accessible?2022-06-17T12:39:47+01:00

Our shop is wheelchair friendly with a ramped door access and wide doorways. Both our showroom and bridal suites are on the ground floor and wheelchair accessible.

For people with specific sensory needs or those who might require a quiet, lower-input environment, please get in touch and we can advise you of times when the store is likely to have fewer fellow-shoppers. Our bridal and bridesmaids suites are also completely separate from the showroom and on different floors of the building, each with private dressing areas in a calm, quiet space.

Please do get in touch with the Roberta’s Bridal team if you have any specific requirements and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Is Roberta’s Bridal LGBTQIA+ friendly?2022-06-17T12:39:32+01:00

We consider ourselves a safe, inclusive, welcoming space for every kind of bride or person getting married and your guests. We’re all about creating your dream bridal experience and celebrating the love you share with your partner and spouse-to-be.

We understand that the bridal industry can often be quite binary in the way it describes people getting married, from gender identity to sexual identity. Our friendly and sensitive staff are always led by what you want, including the language you use to describe your gender identity and anything we need to know about person you’re marrying.

We also welcome couples who may both be shopping for a wedding dress for their big day. If your partner will also be trying on gowns or accessories, please let us know when you book an appointment and we make sure our team are able to support you both in your search for your dream dress.

If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to get in touch with the team before your appointment so we have the right insight to welcome you and your guests to our store properly.

I’m not comfortable undressing/being undressed with an attendant in close quarters – will a staff member need to be in the changing room with me when I’m trying on my dress?2022-02-19T20:40:41+00:00

While some bridal stores insist on being present when a bride is trying on a gown, we are a consent-led team and uphold a “knock first” curtain policy.

That means that an attending stylist will never pull back the curtain and enter the changing space you’re in unless they secure your express permission and consent.

While you may wish to ask for help with tricky fastenings or adjusting your gown before stepping out, we’ll keep checking in with you to ensure you’re comfortable with us being inside the changing space with you.

When should I shop for my bridesmaids?2022-02-19T20:39:48+00:00

Ideally, you would want your bridesmaid dresses ordered at least 6 months before your wedding.

Do you stock bridesmaid dresses?2022-02-19T20:39:20+00:00

Yes, we have an extensive range of bridesmaid dresses in a huge variety of styles. We accommodate for all sizes, styles, and shades (with over 200 colour options), alongside providing matching looks for flowergirls or young people involved in the wedding party.

How often do you get new gowns?2022-06-17T12:36:40+01:00

Our stock is often changing,

As a premier stockist for our collection of designers, we receive gowns throughout the year. Our stock is always changing so keep an eye on what’s featured online or book an appointment to explore our current range.

Are pets allowed?2022-03-10T16:20:44+00:00

While we love to see photos of your beloved fur babies, we only allow registered service animals in the bridal store.

Am I allowed to take photos in store?2022-03-10T16:20:22+00:00

While we welcome you to take photos or snap selfies of yourself and your bridal party, we ask that you respect the privacy of other customers who may be visiting the store.

As any stylist will tell you though, poorly lit photos taken with a grainy camera phone are not going to do your look justice! If you’d like, we’re happy to take a photo of you rocking your favourite gown as we’re savvy to the spots in-store with the best backdrop and light.

Do you offer alterations?2022-02-20T11:45:53+00:00

While we don’t not have an in-house seamstress, we can book you in with our highly experienced alterations specialist who’ve been partnered with for over 15 years. You will be asked to pay our seamstress partner directly for any alterations.

You are of course absolutely welcome to use your own seamstress – we suggest you budget around £200-£250 for bridal gown alterations.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?2022-02-19T20:34:12+00:00

In practical terms, all you need to bring to your appointment is yourself and any ideas you may have about what kind of dress you might like.

We don’t require you to wear any specific under-clothing unless you have something particular you’d like to try on with the gowns. Many styles of gown are designed to support the wearer’s chest so for those who do wear bras, you may wish to try on these kinds of dresses with or without your bra.

We do request that you wear briefs, knickers or your preferred form of underwear for your appointment, as we’re not able to allow you to try on any dresses if you’re going commando!

Do you stock plus size wedding dresses?2022-06-17T12:37:27+01:00

Roberta’s Bridal is the leading stockist of plus-size gowns and wedding dresses in the area. There is a wide variety of styles to try on in store, so brides who wear a dress size 18 and above won’t have to choose from a limited selection of designs.

What sizes do you stock?2022-06-17T12:39:47+01:00

We are a size-inclusive bridal store and the majority of our 200+ dresses are available in sizes 6 to 36. We also carry a diverse range of sizes ready to try on in store.

If you have any further questions about sizing or would like to specify in advance that we have a certain size available in a certain style, please do get in touch.

Can I bring children?2022-02-19T20:25:05+00:00

We do love welcoming children to Roberta’s Bridal, especially when they’re going to be part of your big day.

However, knowing that toddlers or very young children running around can contribute towards a stressful environment for the bride trying on, we would encourage you to consider not bringing young children to your bridal appointment.

With this in mind, we understand that this isn’t an option for every family. If you do choose to bring young children to your bridal appointment, they must be supervised by a member of the wedding party.

How many guests can I bring?2022-06-17T12:36:39+01:00

Our advice is to bring your key decision-makers with you. You want to be shopping with the people whose opinion you value and who you’d like to be there when you experience that “omg, this is my dress!” moment.

We can comfortably seat up to 4 guests in our exclusive bridal suite and we ask that you let us know upon booking roughly how many guests will be accompanying you.

How long does a wedding dress appointment last?2022-06-17T12:36:39+01:00

You can view the full range of bridal and wedding gown appointments and timings when you make an appointment but our full bridal appointments are typically an hour and a half long.

Do you have onsite parking?2022-02-20T11:46:24+00:00

We do not have onsite parking, however, there is paid, street parking directly opposite the shop and a pay and display car park just around the corner on Chapel Lane.

While we do welcome walk-ins and casual browsers who may wish to explore our showroom, we can’t guarantee exclusive access to our bridal suites and assistance from one of our experienced bridal stylists.

Help! My wedding is only 3 months away!2022-02-20T11:47:28+00:00

Don’t worry, you still have plenty of options with Roberta’s Bridal!

We may be able to secure a super rush delivery on specific styles, pull from certain designer stock, or guide you in exploring our ‘take me home today’ collection.

You’ll still receive the full Roberta’s Bridal experience, too!

Do you charge for steaming?2022-06-17T12:39:47+01:00

All gowns are steamed upon arrival and we offer a completely complimentary steaming service after your alterations are complete, so your gown is picture-perfect for your wedding. Please get in touch with us to arrange this service once you’ve purchased your gown.

How long do wedding dresses take to arrive in to store?2022-06-17T12:39:47+01:00

Depending on the designer and collection, dresses can take up to six months to arrive into store. We will also need to allow for enough time for the seamstress to complete the necessary alterations to a high standard.

Although this is not the case for everyone, we generally advise you to order your gown at least 9 or 10 months before your big day.

If you’re worried you’ve left it too late or you may not have time to secure your dream gown, please do get in touch or consider booking an appointment – depending on the turnaround, we may well still be able to find you the perfect wedding dress.

When should I shop for my wedding dress?2022-02-20T11:47:28+00:00

Our best advice is to start shopping when you feel ready to find the dress of your dreams and you’re able to comfortably cover the cost.

Whether you find your dream dress on your first day of searching or your fifteenth, it’s important to be in the right frame of mind and financial position to order once you find it.

How do I pay for my wedding dress?2022-02-20T11:45:53+00:00

It’s a 50% initial payment

After you try on a style sample in store and find your dream wedding dress, we will order the gown to your exact size and style specifications. At this stage, you will pay 50% of the final cost of the gown and the final 50% upon the final fitting.

For ‘take me home today’ bridal gowns that are available for you buy then and there, full payment will be due upon purchase.

How much do the wedding dresses cost?2022-06-17T12:41:02+01:00

The cost of the wedding dresses that we stock vary and we have a number of different designers in store.

Our ‘to order’ dresses range from £795 to £2,300 but the average cost is around £1,300 to £1,600.

We also keep a range of ‘take me home today’ gowns, which are a mix of ex-display samples, over stocks and catwalk samples – these dresses are usually £800 and under, however, they are limited in regards to size.
